Why should we use video interview instead of a phone interview?

Because your candidates will answer questions on an unrehearsed basis and your hiring managers and colleagues can evaluate candidate expertise, communication skills and personality more accurately. Seeing is believing - and a Video is worth more than a thousand words.

What is a video resume, or a video CV?

A video resume, or video CV, is a pre-recorded introduction that candidates submit to recruiters. It is usually well planned by the candidate in order to help present his/her abilities, skills, and personality.

Video resumes can be useful when a recruiter is screening resumes.  Candidates with a video CV can give themselves a better chance to show if they are a match for the job. However, because video resumes can be pre-planned and rehearsed, the viewers might not be able to assess a candidate’s ‘hard skills’ or specific knowledge. While a video interview profile is meant for comparing different candidates’ skills and styles, a video resume is meant for presenting some unique selling points associated with a candidate if a recruiter has time to review it. For jobs that require creativity and communication skills, a video resume is a great tool.


What is a Video Profile?

When recruiters identify qualified candidates, they can set up iViioo video interviews. The result of the video interview will be stored as an online video profile. Each video profile contains a candidate’s unrehearsed answers to specific questions designed by the hiring organization.

After the recruiting strategy has allowed several candidates to be selected, recruiters and hiring managers can design specific questions that they want candidates to answer. Candidates will not know the questions before they start the video interview. Once the questions are developed by the agency, they will send out the invitation to the candidates. Candidates only need a standard webcam, a microphone, and high speed Internet to connect to our system to conduct their video interview.  Once a candidate finishes recording his or her answers via iViioo live video capturing platform, hiring managers, recruiters, and peers can all be invited to see the interview videos online – anytime, anywhere.


What is the cost of using iViioo?

For job candidates, iViioo services are free. For example, a candidate can participate online video interviews without charge.

How do I identify the best candidates from their video interview profiles?

There are 3 principles you can apply to identify high-potential candidates:

  1. Use our intelligent assessment tools: To distinguish candidates' knowledge of a specific role, you can set up an online evaluation, send it to a large pool of candidates, and get the sorted results from iViioo. Our platform helps you identify high-potential candidates based on your required skills.
  2. Expand your search scope by inviting more video interviews: Seeing is believing, and some star candidates may not have the strongest resume. With iViioo membership, you can invite more candidates and pick the best one based on video – do not give up on that resume that you think is interesting.
  3. Search our candidate video CV database: iViioo provides an additional service, video CV, to help recruiters gain access to the non-resume based profiles of candidates.  Depending on text-based resumes can sometimes be disappointing. Instead, why not try exploring for and finding superstars through their video CVs?


Can a candidate upload a video interview?

No.  Like an actual face-to-face interview, the question will be asked once we start recording, therefore as a candidate you will not be able to know or prepare the answers ahead of time.


Do I need a high-speed Internet connection?

YES.  It is highly recommended that you have a minimum of 128kB connection. Usually DSL, cable, or satellite Internet service should have a fast enough connection. Please follow our test instructions to confirm your Internet connection speed.


What kind of web cam should I use?

You can use any standard webcam that has more than 2M pixel resolution. You can ask your friend or family member who has experience with using webcam to help you out.


How do I make a great video interview?

First of all, prepare a good setting and dress professionally.

Second, maintain good eye contact to the web cam. Remember to talk as if the webcam is the interviewer. Keep a positive attitude, even when answering a difficult question. The interviewer cares not only about your skills, but also about your attitude.

Will my personal information, including my video interviews be strictly protected?

YES, absolutely. We have a strong commitment to protect our customers' privacy. Our system is designed to ensure the security of candidates’ videos. No one from hiring organizations can download your video answers, and at anytime you can request to remove the video. Please note that the hiring organization has to agree that your video answers will only be used under the following conditions:
  • To assess your potential as a job candidate
  • To analyze your skills and styles to help improve their recruiting practice
Only the hiring organization’s specific recruiters and hiring team can access your videos. We have a clear tracking mechanism to trace who is assigned to be your reviewer, as well as who already viewed your videos.


How do I post a Job on iViioo?

Posting jobs at iViioo is simple, simply click Add Job Post in the left menu, and then enter all the information, such as job title, job description, and salary range etc. If your company already has a job post ready, you can simply copy and paste.

You can also include a link if you had posted the job on your corporate site or job boards like Monster, CareerBuilder.com, or HotJobs.com
